India : Chronic disease capital in the world ?

According to the WHO report titled : Preventing chronic diseases: a vital investment, India is projected to have deaths due to infectious diseases, maternal and perinatal conditions and nutritional deficiency drop by 15%. However India is expected to have a 18% rise in deaths due to chronic illnesses, mainly diabetes. In the next 10 years chronic diseases will amount to a massive 53% share in all mortality !!!

These statistics only are sending a message and Indian health care for now is mostly paid on a personal basis. If we dont soon embrace the insurance demons we will be struggling to buy our diabetic pills and kits.
