Ranbaxy is India's largest pharmaceutical company, and was formed in 1937 and incorporated in 1961. The name Ranbaxy is a combination of names of its first owners Ranjit and Gurbax. Ranbaxy is headquartered in Gurgaon in Haryana.

Ranbaxy has shown significant international focus recently with the victory over the patent of Lipitor with Pfizer as well as recent acquisition of a controlling stake by Daichi Sankyo (third largest japanese pharma company) for USD 4.6 billion.
