Database locks in a real world setting

For many years database locks were singular events, that means there was a single database lock for one study with a multi-center setting.

Currently this scenario is challenged when we have multiple protocols in a single study progressing at different time frames. It could be possible that one protocol is complete and database is locked and other protocol is still running.

This scenario needs multiple database locks which are not support by the existing CDM systems. We tried doing this with number of popular CDM software but failed to do so. It would be great to hear from our readers who have experience with multiple database locks in clinical setting.
