Why SAS ?

Recently we were looking for some SAS experts to work for clients in US, UK and Singapore, the response as always was huge (200+ resumes), for some of those that looked outstanding we had a telephone interview with only one question : Why SAS ?, unfortunately only 2 candidates knew why SAS was relevant in clincial research.

If you know why SAS please feel free to let us know using the comments option below

  1. SAS data format is the preferred format by US FDA. Please note it's preferred not the mandate kind of thing. SAS Data sets are not easily possible to modified. US FDA use SAS viewer to review all the data sets at their end. Hence to be remain with same terminology which US FDA has, CROs and Pharma companies prefers SAS. Ultimately to avoid the more questions from US FDA on data sets (if you are using other than SAS data sets), industry try to use SAS.

  2. Partly true. US FDA uses xport data format for obtaining submissions from sponsors. With the advent of CDISC SDTM model that is changing.

There are actually 10 very good reasons to go for SAS, you have given me one, try the rest

  4. SAS is very easy to maintain the all types of data and huge data.using this we have to produce the any type of formats for FDA(proc cdisc) people for approving the our clinical data.this is single platform so we have to maintain easily and we have to automate the programs using macros for reducing the time lines.
